My girlfriend went in to get a road test done. She booked the test yesterday at which point she asked if it was OK to take the road test in a rental car and if she needed anything specific or different in order to do the test. The clerk at the desk said it was fine to do the test in a rental vehicle and she wouldn't need anything other than what is required in your own vehicle. She showed up to do the test 20 mins early and when the tester was ready they went out to her car to inspect the vehicle and forms. The tester asked for the rental agreement form and when she found out that the rental form did not have my girlfriend's name on it (because it was rented under a different name) she refused to go through with the test. Not only that, when my girlfriend asked to re-book so she wouldn't lose her $150 she said there was nothing she could do about it. Even after explaining to her that it was a Gold Key employee's mistake they would not give her a refund or give her money back! Not sure if this is considered illegal practice or not, but I will for sure look into it. To me it seems that supplying false information to customers and still taking their money would be illegal practice. Either way, stay away from this company, they'll just take your money and run!
